2018 was the year in which I reached my most coveted subject: the elusive Emperor penguins. We sailed with the legendary Russian icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov from Ushuaia to the Antarctic peninsula, carrying helicopters on board that would take us within walking distance of the colony, trekking across the sea ice to finally be face to face with the inhabitants of Snow Hill Island. It was pure magic and by far the most mind-blowing traveling experience I’ve had so far. This gallery show an excerpt of this journey, together with a recap of the other photos I shot in 2018. If you want to see more of Snow Hill Island, please visit the gallery dedicated to this photo trip.
