falkland islands

In december 2015 I went to the Falklands to photograph penguins.
My original idea was to travel al the way to Antarctica, as in my opinion the most beautiful penguin species on our planet is the Emperor Penguin.
But it soon became clear to me that I could not afford the expensive trip to the ice where the Emperors breed, so I looked for destinations within my budgetary range.
The subantarctic Falkland Islands were a very logical alternative as there are 4 different penguin species to be seen (King Penguin, Gentoo Penguin, Magellanic Pengin and Rockhopper Penguin) and lots of other beautiful birds, like the Black-browed Albatross.
It literally costed me blood, sweat and tears to make some of the photos in this gallery, but I hope you enjoy the results as much as I do.
